Feta Bites

Of all the melons, watermelon is our favourite. It’s light, refreshing, and is a reminder that summer is here. This recipe calls for three simple ingredients: fresh watermelon cubes and savoury cheese topped off with a basil leaf. That’s it.

Makes ~25 servings

Every time we host a group of people we aim for creativity when it comes to appetizers. Store bought hummus and pita, chips and salsa, and deep-fried items are too easy…and unhealthy. Feta bites are just as simple, juicier, and make room for the upcoming potluck.

For leftovers, remove the toothpicks and eat as a mixed salad (image #4 above).

  • 1 watermelon, cut into 1″ cubes
  • 1 pound of feta, cut into cubes 1″ in length (1/4″ wide)
  • Basil leaves
  • Toothpicks

How to:

  1. Stack a cube of watermelon with feta and a folded over basil leaf (similar to an accordion). Stabilize with a toothpick. That’s it.
